Central Zone with 11 active COVID-19 cases

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Central Zone nearly doubled on Thursday, going from six on to 11.

Two of the new active cases are in Red Deer County, while the city of Red Deer now has three.

Drayton Valley, Ponoka, Didsbury, and the Stettler area each have one active case of the virus.

Two of the zone’s active cases are in hospital.

Overall, Alberta is reporting 37 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours to bring the province’s total to 8,519.

The number of active cases province-wide stands at 584, which are 24 fewer than Wednesday, and the number of recoveries stands at 7,774, an increase of 58.

There were 6,966 tests were completed in the past 24 hours.

There are 46 Albertans currently in hospital as a result of the virus, which is nine fewer than yesterday. Seven people are in intensive care.

Unfortunately, three new deaths are being reported. That brings Alberta’s fatality count from the virus to 161.
