St. Martin de Porres student wins provincial school bus poster contest
Alekx Santos, Grade 1 student from St. Martin de Porres School was one of seven that won the Alberta Student Transportation Advisory Council (ASTAC) poster contest.
This is what Santos says about her drawing: “riding the school bus is fun and getting dropped off is my favourite. In my drawing, all the kids are so happy because they all love riding the big yellow bus. I also like meeting other people on the bus and making new friends. The bus driver is really nice and we always go for a fun ride.”
“It is important for students to participate in the annual ASTAC School Bus Safety poster contest to help them visually bring awareness and promote the discussions of safe activity in and around the school bus. It allows those in class discussions to progress about the hazards around the school bus. It also contributes to their knowledge of school bus safety,” said Assistant Transportation Manager, Kelli Pickett at Red Deer Regional Schools.
“I am so very proud that Alekx was willing to share her God-given artistic talents and take the initiative to inspire others to be safe while travelling on the bus,” said Principal, Dorice de Champlain at St. Martin de Porres School.
