Semi-truck hits overpass on QE2 Highway near Millet

A semi-truck driver was flown to hospital in Edmonton Wednesday morning after a collision the QEII Highway near Millet.

RCMP were called to the crash at the Highway 616 overpass at 7:35 a.m.

In a release, police said the semi was heading northbound when it went off the road and crashed into the side of the overpass.

The extent of the male driver’s injuries is not yet known.

Traffic on Highway 616 was diverted in both directions and vehicles are not able to use Highway 616 to cross the QEII as of about 9:30 a.m. Traffic is expected to be diverted for several hours.

Police say northbound drivers on the QEII can expect delays while crews work to remove the crashed semi.
