Man dies in crash north of Barrhead

A two-vehicle collision Monday morning in west Central Alberta claimed the life of a 79-year-old man.

RCMP say the fatal crash between a southbound car and eastbound truck happened at an intersection on Highway 33 and Highway 18 north of Barrhead.

The 79-year-old driver of the car died at the scene while the adult male driver of the truck sustained minor injuries.

Police say no charges are expected.

The name of the deceased will not be released.
