1st Annual ‘Trash Your Dress for CAWES’

Jun 16, 2020 | 12:53 PM

The 1st Annual Trash Your Dress for CAWES is raising much needed operating funds, due to lost event revenue as a result of COVID-19. This amazing event is being supported by six of Central Alberta’s best photographers, who are creating once in a lifetime opportunities for six brides!

Each bride is asked to raise funds for the Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter, and in return they get to work with some of Central Alberta’s top photographers, receive a bit of pampering, along with limo transportation to all three of the undisclosed photoshoot locations.

“We’re not talking about literally trashing the dress (unless the bride wants to). At most, there’s a chance it’ll get dirty and it may not come completely clean, following the event. Participants will need to be prepared for this” said Roxanne Kirton, event organizer with CAWES.

“I was researching event ideas, when I came across this long-running, very successful event in Saskatoon. They have done an amazing job of raising funds for the Saskatoon Children’s Hospital there, and I thought why not here in Red Deer? It’s something different, and fun.”

“We have a conservative fundraising goal for our first year. We know that we’re starting a bit late, and that raising money in this current economic environment might be a stretch, but if nothing else, we’re creating the foundation for a solid community fundraiser with some uniqueness to it”, added Kirton.

Fundraising is now underway! Participating brides will each receive a swag bag full of goodies from local businesses. Be the top fundraiser and receive the GRAND PRIZE valued at over $800. Charitable tax receipts will be issued for donations over $20.
