Province confirms active COVID-19 case in Red Deer

This time it’s confirmed — Red Deer has an active case of COVID-19.

The latest numbers released Friday afternoon by Alberta Health show our city remains with 35 confirmed cases overall. But there is now one active case and 34 recoveries as opposed to the previous reports showing Red Deer with no active cases and 35 recoveries.

Red Deer had been without a confirmed active case of the virus since May.

There are now two active cases in the Central Zone, with the other in the Three Hills area. One of the cases is in hospital.

There are no active cases showing in Rocky Mountain House after one was reported there by Alberta Health on Thursday.

The number of confirmed cases in the Central Zone now stands at 88.

Overall, the province added 30 cases of COVID-19 on Friday, out of 7,726 test results, for a total of 7,346.

The number of recoveries has reached 6,811 while there are now 386 active cases province-wide.

No new deaths were reported Friday as that total for the province remains 149.
