Rocky RCMP Report: June 5- 11

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of June 5-June 11

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

June 5

9:52 A.M. – B&E to storage unit in RMH. A lock was cut with bolt cutters and personal items were stolen.

10:01 A.M. – Report of an assault on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. The suspect fled in the victim’s car after stealing the car keys. The female suspect was not located and so an arrest warrant has been requested.

2:34 P.M. – Floor panels stolen from a well site in Clearwater County.

1:00 P.M. – An adult male was arrested on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve after he took a vehicle without the owner’s consent and rolled it while being impaired. Charges are pending.

11:47 P.M. – Police responded to a RV theft in progress in Clearwater County, southwest of RMH. Police located 2 suspect vehicles which fled from police. The car was found abandoned and the SUV was disabled with a spike belt, after which 3 suspects ran on foot. With the assistance of Red Deer Police Dog Services & RCMP Air Services, all were located and arrested. Numerous charges are pending.

June 6

1:36 A.M. – Report of an ATV roll-over on the South Fork Road. EMS transported the individual to the hospital with minor injuries.

4:55 A.M. – Report of a person overdosing at a residence in RMH. Police attended and stayed with the disoriented individual until EMS arrived to transport to hospital.

6:18 A.M. – 911 call of a vehicle roll over on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. EMS and the O’Chiese Fire Department were dispatched.

9:04 A.M. – Call of a suspicious male on owner’s property on Range Road 4-3 & Twp Rd 38-5, Clearwater County. An adult male jumped the locked gate and came on the property demanding a ride to town. When the male was refused he became angry and had to be persuaded to leave the property. Police attended and located a stolen pickup truck down the road. Apparently a passerby had driven by and had given the suspect a ride to Eckville.

3:26 P.M. – 911 call of shots fired through a window on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. Police located the suspect and charges are pending.

June 7

3:45 P.M. – Report of a garage broken into in RMH. Nothing was taken.

8:17 P.M. – Vehicle stopped by police in Clearwater County, on Range Road 8-5. The suspended adult male driver was breaching previous release conditions and was in possession of Methamphetamine. Charges have been laid and after a Judicial Interm Release Hearing, he was held on $750 Cash Bail.

June 8

00:12 A.M. – Police attended a rural camp on SouthFork Road and located a male from the Wetaskwin area, who was not complying with his parole conditions. Methamphetamine, cocaine, and cash were located in his vehicle. He was subsequently arrested and charged. He was remanded into custody to appear in RMH Provincial Court.

10:25 A.M. – Theft of bicycle from a backyard in RMH.

11:33 A.M. – Attempted theft of a van belonging to the town of RMH. The driver’s door and ignition were damaged

8:00 P.M. – Vehicle discovered burnt out behind dump road off of SecHwy #752. Under investigation.

June 9

9:45 A.M. – Theft of a red & black 2016 HONDA TRX500 quad stolen from a residence on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve.

9:13 P.M. – Call of a light aircraft having to make an emergency landing in a farmer’s field in Leslieville. Pilot experienced an engine failure and was able to land safely.

June 10

1:52 A.M. – Police stopped a vehicle for speeding on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and is scheduled to appear in RMH Provincial Court at a later date.

3:37 A.M. – Police dispatched to a call of a male in a backyard of a residence in RMH. The complainant did not know the person who was pacing back and forth with a flashlight. Police attended and arrested the rambling male individual who had a knife and brass knuckles in his possession. Further charges pending including for breaching previous release conditions.

5:22 A.M. – 911 call to assist EMS on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve, with an individual who had been “Bear maced.” The matter is under investigation

11:12 A.M. – Call of a male hitting complainant’s car with an axe and refusing to leave the property on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve. Police attended and arrested the intoxicated suspect who was released to appear in RMH Provincial Court at a later date

12:56 P.M. – Call of a truck stolen from a residence in RMH. Police attended and located the truck in the ditch nearby and were able to arrest the suspect who had fled the scene.

7:12 P.M. – Bottles of liquor reported stolen by 3 persons at a RMH liquor store. Suspects fled in a red Chevy Silverado

8:42 P.M. – 2005 black SKI DOO Legend 1000 Snowmobile stolen from a residence in Echo Canyon.

June 11

7:45 A.M. – 2006 grey FORD F250 stolen from residence in Nordegg overnight.
