Alberta announces plan for next stage of relaunch strategy

Alberta is moving ahead with the next step towards relaunching the province’s economy from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Premier Jason Kenney announced Tuesday that Stage 2 of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy will commence this Friday, June 12 for the entire province.

Kenney said some aspects of Stage 3 are also being moved ahead to be part of Stage 2.

Activities that are now allowed include:

– K-12 schools for diploma exams and summer schools

– Libraries

– More surgeries

– Community halls

– Team sports

– Wellness and personal services

– Movie and live theatres

– Indoor recreation, fitness, and sports facilities including gyms

– Instrumental concerts

– Casinos and bingo halls

– VLTs in restaurants and lounges

Outdoor and indoor seated events can now have a maximum of 100 people. There are no caps on physical attendance in places of worship (for services only). Indoor social events can now have a maximum of 50 people.
