Alberta adds 27 COVID-19 cases

There are another 27 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Alberta, but none were recorded in the Central Zone.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the province’s chief medical officer of health, will provide her next in-person update on Wednesday. The case counts were updated online Tuesday.

There are now 356 active cases across Alberta, one more than Monday, and 6,722 people have now recovered.

Two more people have died in Alberta from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths in the province to 151.

There were 4,993 tests processed over the last 24 hours in Alberta, which helped the province surpass 300,000 tests since March.

There are two more people in hospital than there were on Monday, as 46 people are now in hospital. Six of those patients have been admitted into ICU.

Red Deer is again showing no active cases and 35 recovered. The entire Central Zone has seen 87 cases of COVID-19, none of them active.

The numbers for both Red Deer and the Central Zone are down from what was reported last week. Though provincials have yet to give an explanation it is not uncommon for cases to be reclassified between zones as more information about a patient becomes available.
