Plan for limited organized use of Red Deer sports fields in the works
Following the release of updated provincial guidelines, The City of Red Deer says it is developing a plan to open sports fields and outdoor amenities for limited organized use.
Sports fields are currently open for non-organized, non-contact spontaneous use, the city points out in a release. However, Alberta Health has issued new guidelines for Organized Outdoor Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation. As a result, city officials say a plan is in development to allow some organized use of sports fields.
“Permitted use of sports fields will include training, practice and skills development that can follow stage one public health guidance for outdoor recreation,” the city says. “This includes, but is not limited to physical distancing of two metres, avoiding shared equipment where possible, gathering limits and enhanced protection controls.”
All users must review and understand the current provincial guidelines before participating, city officials note.
