25,000 PPE kits going out to Alberta truckers

Jun 3, 2020 | 1:24 PM

A team of industry partners, sponsors and volunteers is gathering at the Calgary Stampede grounds today (Wed.) to assemble 25,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) kits for truck drivers.

The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) says this is being done in support of the safety of commercial truck drivers who continue to haul and deliver essential goods throughout our province and beyond.

The AMTA says that through combined efforts and the generosity of BMO, Women in Supply Chain, UFA, The Gear Centre and others, the non-surgical masks and gloves for these kits have been procured and the organizing team has been overtly diligent in preparing to follow all social distancing and sanitation guidelines.

“This event has truly been a group effort, coming together quickly thanks to the efforts of all involved. We all know drivers are essential to our supply chain and although they have been hauling throughout the COVID-19 pandemic for weeks now, we need to continue to support them, and most importantly keep them safe,” says Chris Nash, AMTA president.
