City of Red Deer suspends production of 2020 fall Activity Guide

Jun 2, 2020 | 2:42 PM

Due to the ongoing uncertainly regarding COVID-19, and unknown health restrictions that may be in place over the coming months, The City of Red Deer says it has made the “difficult decision to suspend the production and print of the Activity Guide for fall 2020.”

“Unfortunately, at this time, we cannot determine a concrete timeline or a definite plan as to what programming will look like in our facilities this fall,” the city says in a release. “The Activity Guide requires months of lead-time to create each edition, time that we do not have.”

At this time, The City of Red Deer is not accepting registrations for programs.

When programming is available, residents will be able to look up City-led programming information and register for activities online through Look’n Book. Additionally, the MyActivity Guide tool gives residents the opportunity to build their own customized Activity Guide that can be bookmarked, saved and printed. These tools provide the most current and up-to-date information compared to the printed guide.

The city says it is currently researching and testing ways to include community-led programming via those channels.

“We understand that the community has come to rely on the Activity Guide to provide them with opportunities for recreation and cultural pursuits, and this changes the way they’ll receive that information,” says Recreation, Parks and Culture Manager, Shelley Gagnon. “We are confident that when we are once again able to offer programming to the community, we will be able to provide simple, user-friendly means of finding, and registering for, your desired programming,” said Gagnon.
