2020 property tax notices are in the mail

Jun 1, 2020 | 2:32 PM

Red Deer property owners can expect to receive their 2020 property tax notice in the mail within the next few days.

City officials say property owners who do not receive their tax notice by the first week of June should contact Revenue & Assessment Services at 403-342-8126 or tax@reddeer.ca to request a copy of their bill.

Those facing financial challenges are reminded the deadline has been extended to Sept. 30, however, property owners who are able to do so are encouraged to pay early to help fund essential services like police, emergency services and infrastructure maintenance.

Property owners are encouraged to sign up for TIP, the City’s Tax Instalment Plan, to arrange for automatic monthly payments through to December, rather than the full amount being due by the end of September. Property owners can join TIP through an online form until Jun. 15 at reddeer.ca/TIP.

In addition to the TIP Program, property owners have multiple options available to pay their taxes. Payments can be made online or in person through their financial institution, by mail, through their mortgage company or at City Hall.

While City Hall remains closed, property owners can submit payment by cheque using the drop box at each entrance.

Late payment penalties will be applied to unpaid tax account balances on October 1.
