No new COVID-19 deaths in Alberta for consecutive days

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Alberta is down to 604 on Saturday, 16 less than a day ago.

Another 27 people have recovered for a total of 6,245, while the province has now confirmed 6,992 cases, including 13 new ones today.

There were no new deaths reported in the last 24 hours, leaving the toll at 143 for the second straight day. There are also 53 people in hospital, including five in intensive care.

Meantime, Red Deer and Red Deer County each have one remaining active case. Those represent the only two active cases in Central Zone.

The zone’s case numbers were also data-corrected Saturday from 99 confirmed to 98.

Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, shared some thoughts on social media today with respect to masks.

Edmonton: 67 active, 9 in hospital, 1 in ICU

South: 44 active, 4 in hospital

North: 27 active, 3 in hospital

Central: 2 active, 0 in hospital

Unknown: 3 active

Tests completed: 257,227
