AHS expands Text4Hope service for people with addiction and cancer issues

May 23, 2020 | 10:36 AM

Alberta Health Services’ Text4Hope initiative is expanding to support more Albertans.

Text4Hope-Addiction Support and Text4Hope-Cancer Care are designed to help those dealing with psychological issues related to addiction and cancer issues.

The new services are funded by the Mental Health Foundation.

To subscribe, text “Open2Change” or “CancerCare” to 393939.

The original subscription service can be obtained by texting “COVID19HOPE” to 393939. It originally launched in March to help those looking for support.

Since, more than 45,000 Albertans have subscribed. The services are all completely free and provide once-daily text messages aimed at easing stress and anxiety.

The original Text4Hope program is funded by AHS, the Mental Health Foundation, Calgary Health Trust, University Hospital Foundation, Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation, Alberta Cancer Foundation and Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
