May 22, 2020 | 5:09 PM

Meteorologists with Environment and Climate Change Canada say a seasonal spring storm that has moved through Alberta over the last few days has brought widespread rain to the province.

On Wednesday, rain began in southern Alberta and by Thursday, the precipitation intensified – expanding north and westward through much of Alberta.

Snow was also reported in communities in the foothills on Thursday evening, and by Friday morning, light snow was reported in many places near and west of Highway 2.

Communities in central Alberta reporting significant amounts of rainfall from 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday to 1:00 p.m. on Friday include the City of Lacombe with 37.2 mm of rain, Hamlet of Nordegg reporting 58 mm, Town of Rocky Mountain House 47.8 mm, Town of Sundre 57.4 mm, and the Town of Three Hills reporting 34.2 mm during that time frame.
