City offers garden starter kits to Red Deerians
Red Deerians can hone their green thumb with new Home Grown garden starter kits. The City is making 250 kits available to residents in an effort to encourage gardening at home.
“We know people are anxious to find ways to enjoy the outdoors during these times,” said Karen Mann, Emergency Operations Centre Director. “These kits are a great option for people looking to start a garden, but don’t have the necessary supplies, or who may not have gardened before.”
Each kit contains a small planter, potting soil and three seed packs (e.g., lettuce, chives, radishes, spinach). Instructions for getting started will be included, and registrants will also have access to tutorials and videos from local experts.
Kits are given away on a first-come, first-served basis. Online registration for the kits will continue until all kits are assigned.
