Alberta COVID-19 update for May 17

Alberta Health officials have released Sunday’s update regarding the COVID-19 update in the province.

Officials say Alberta’s COVID-19 hospitalization rates remain low with 57 people currently in hospital, nine of whom are in intensive care.

In total, 5,453 Albertans have recovered from COVID-19. One more Albertan has died, bringing the total to 127.

There are now 13 active cases and 85 recovered cases in the Central zone. In Red Deer, the number of COVID-19 cases remains 37, including two active and 35 recovered.

There have been 196,309 people tested in Alberta for COVID-19 and a total of 213,078 tests performed by the province’s lab.
