Alberta reports 50 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday

Alberta is reporting a total of 5,205 recoveries from COVID-19 as of Thursday, an increase of 129 from Wednesday, while there are 1,131 active cases, a decrease of 80.

There are 65 people in Alberta hospitals for COVID-19-related reasons, five fewer than Wednesday, including 10 patients in intensive care.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta Chief Medical Office of Health, says that out of 4,816 new tests done over the past 24 hours, 50 came back positive. Alberta’s total number of COVID-19 cases is now listed at 6,457.

Alberta has now conducted 200,218 COVID-19 lab tests.

An additional fatality was reported on Thursday, bringing Alberta’s death toll from the virus to 121.

The number of cases in the Central zone remains 97, same as was reported Wednesday.

In Red Deer, the number of COVID-19 cases also remains unchanged at 37, including two active and 35 recovered.
