An Eckville man who has admitted to committing sex crimes against young children has a new lawyer in place.

Crown Prosecutor Carolyn Ayre, Calgary Specialized Prosecution, confirms Kelsey Sitar will represent the accused moving forward.

The 36-year-old man, whose name is under a publication ban in order to protect the identity of his victims, had his matter spoken to in Red Deer Provincial Court on Monday.

He pled guilty last October to more than two dozen of the 80 counts against him.

Previously, court heard that over the course of about a decade, the man collected hundreds of photos and videos of himself sexually assaulting or molesting children between the ages of two and 10-years-old.

Police say some of the images were uploaded to child pornography sites.

Ayre confirms a trial has been scheduled for Jun. 30 for charges of breach of recognizance against the accused, while a long-term offender hearing will commence on Oct. 2.

Ten days of been set aside for the long-term offender hearing.
