COVID-19 recoveries continue to outpace new cases in Alberta

Alberta is reporting a total of 4866 recoveries from COVID-19 as of Tuesday, an increase of 207 from Monday, while there are 1,361 active cases, a decrease of 163.

There remain 73 people in Alberta hospitals for COVID-19-related reasons, including 12 patients in intensive care.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta Chief Medical Office of Health, says that out of 3173 new tests done over the past 24 hours, 45 came back positive to bring Alberta’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 6,345.

An additional death was reported on Tuesday, bringing Alberta’s death toll from the virus unchanged to 118.

At the Cargill meat plant in Brooks there are 25 active cases and 920 people have recovered. There are 44 active cases at the JBS plant in Brooks and 582 recoveries.

Alberta has now conducted 191,330 COVID-19 tests.

The number of cases in the Central zone is now reported at 98, one fewer than the previous updates from Monday and Sunday.

In Red Deer, the number of COVID-19 cases remains unchanged at 37, including three active and 34 recovered.

The number of cases in Sylvan Lake remains three, but one case has now recovered while two remain active.
