Alberta sees lowest COVID-19 increase in a month

As of Monday, Alberta is reporting a total of 73 hospitalizations related to COVID-19, including 12 patients in intensive care.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta Chief Medical Office of Health, says 4,659 people in the province have now recovered from the novel coronavirus, while there are 1524 active cases.

Out of 2864 new tests done over the past 24 hours, Hinshaw says 47 tested positive, bringing Alberta’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 6,300.

Alberta has now conducted 188,157 COVID-19 tests.

Two new deaths were reported on Monday, while two previously reported deaths were deemed not related to COVID-19, leaving Alberta’s death toll from the virus unchanged from Sunday at 117.

The number of cases in the Central zone remains unchanged from Sunday at 99.

In Red Deer, the number of COVID-19 cases remains 37, including three active and 34 recovered.
