May 5, 2020 | 11:07 AM

Sylvan Lake Municipal Library is facilitating an author talk at 3:30 p.m. on May 14 through a Zoom online meeting, during which Calgary-based teen author Sophie Torro will speak about her published works and answer questions.

The library is currently running several programs virtually, including book clubs, anime screenings via Netflix Party, and a Facebook Live story time every Tuesday and Friday.

To register for Sophie Torro’s talk or for more information on library programming, contact Corrie Brown at 403-887-2130 or corrie.brown@prl.ab.ca. You can also message the library on social media. Search for “Sylvan Lake Municipal Library” on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

“Sophie is an incredible inspiration to young writers everywhere,” says Corrie Brown, Programmer at Sylvan Lake Municipal Library. “To have published two books by the age of sixteen, with more on the way, she is the best example of what creativity, passion, and courage can achieve.”

At age 15, Torro self-published her first novel, SkyTalons: Cornelius’ Curse, which has been purchased by readers from across Canada and around the world.

At age 16, Torro published her second novel, SkyTalons: Shadows Within.

Torro recently published a book for younger children, Q&A Kids: What is Coronavirus?, available on kobo in French and English.

Torro will be publishing her third novel, SkyTalons: Khan’s Chaos, in June.
