Roundabout planned for busy intersection in Penhold
Alberta Transportation has set the wheels in motion for future upgrades to a major intersection in Penhold.
Town officials say the government has indicated that the intersection of Highways 2A and 42 would best be served by a roundabout system instead of a traffic signal intersection.
Mayor Mike Yargeau says the Town is still waiting on more details as to when that will happen.
“As it is a provincial highway and falls under the jurisdiction of the provincial government, we are awaiting further updates from them on when the upgrade will take place,” explains Yargeau. “But it looks like it is moving up on their priority list. We were aware that a roundabout was the most likely option, and council recognizes the need to improve that intersection, especially in the busy summer months.”
