An Innisfail man faces charges after being arrested not once, but twice by local Mounties for drug possession.

It was at about 10 p.m. on April 23 when Innisfail RCMP conducted a traffic stop on the QE2 Highway overpass leaving Innisfail. Police say an occupant of the vehicle was wanted on outstanding warrants and was arrested without incident. A search following the man’s arrest turned up what is believed to be cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Derek Duckworth, 27, of Innisfail has been charged with obstruction and possession of controlled substance and is to appear in Red Deer provincial court on July 3.

Then on April 27 at approximately 2:50 p.m., Innisfail RCMP stopped a vehicle travelling on 49 Avenue and an investigation with a subsequent search turning up drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine.
