Red Deerian hosting COVID-19 food drive this Sunday

Apr 24, 2020 | 10:53 AM

With an increased number of people struggling to put food on their tables during the COVID-19 pandemic, one Red Deer man has taken it upon himself to do what he can to help.

Keith Henderson, a member of the Piper Creek Optimist Club in Red Deer, is organizing a food drive from 11-4 on Apr. 26.

Along with some friends, Henderson is offering to drive to any Red Deer area residence that’s able to donate non-perishable, unexpired food items, or cash, then have it delivered to anyone who needs it.

“They can either call, text, or email me with what time works best for them,” he explains. “I’ll just need their home address and then we’ll contact them when we’re on our way so they can leave on the doorstep, just so we practice social distancing.”

Henderson encourages everyone to stay positive and stick together during this time of uncertainty.

“I know it’s hard on a lot of families,” admits Henderson. “But I know that we’ll get through it together and just look forward to being outside and not worrying anymore about this pandemic.”

Any Red Deer area family or resident in need of some help, can contact Keith Henderson at 587-983-9314.
