Street sweeping starts in Red Deer
Street sweeping will begin today (Monday) in Red Deer, with crews cleaning sand and debris from arterials across the city.
The annual street sweeping program is off to a late start following a long winter, city officials note, but sweeping in medians will begin today and boulevards will begin this coming weekend, weather permitting.
Once arterials are complete, crews will begin sweeping the downtown area before sweeping residential streets. Parks crews will also be out sweeping sidewalks and trails throughout the city. Pedestrians and motorists are asked to be cautious around street and sidewalk sweeping equipment by staying at least three car lengths away to avoid injury or damage from flying debris.
Residential street sweeping is anticipated to start in mid-May, and this year we are asking residents to help us by moving their cars off the roads before we come in.
