The City of Red Deer has announced more facility closures and event cancellations through June 30.

In addition to the previously announced closure of recreation, parks and culture facilities, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, city officials say the following are also suspended until the end of June:

– River Bend Golf and Recreation Area, including the golf course and related amenities

– Discovery Canyon (walking trails remain open)

– Recreation Centre Outdoor Pool

– Ross Street Patio

– Spray parks

– Lions Campground

The Red Deer Public Market and DBA Wednesday Farmers’ Market, both privately-operated, are also included in this list.

“We know this is disappointing news for many members of our community,” said Emergency Operations Director Karen Mann. “I want to reiterate that none of these decisions have been easy to make, and to remind our residents that each decision is truly made with their health and safety top of mind.”

The Mayor’s Garden Party and the Mayor’s Recognition Awards, both previously scheduled for June, have been postponed until further notice.
