COVID-19 fact sheet for kids put out by Alberta Health

Apr 10, 2020 | 5:09 PM

Alberta Health has released a new fact sheet targeted at helping kids and students understand COVID-19.

The first question it tackles is the most obvious: What is a coronavirus?

It states: “Coronavirus is a word you might have heard online, at school or on TV. Coronaviruses (a type of germ) are common. Usually, they cause the common cold. But, now a newly-discovered virus (novel coronavirus) is causing a disease called COVID-19. This is a lung infection. A lot of the signs that you’re sick are like the cold or flu.”

The sheet goes on to answer questions such as ‘Where did the coronavirus come from?’, ‘How do I avoid getting sick?’, and ‘Why do I have to home from school?’
