Drayton Valley RCMP report: April 1 – April 9

April 1

1:53 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported her ex-boyfriend had made suicidal comments to her. Members unable to locate the male at time of call, but he was located later and deemed not to be suicidal.

3:54 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported receiving threatening messages on Facebook from her ex-boyfriend, who is on no-contact conditions with her. Under investigation.

7:18 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male and two females entered a store and filled a bag with miscellaneous cosmetics and left without paying. Suspects left a cell phone behind. Under investigation.

8:41 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Call received from a female saying she was in trouble but couldn’t talk, no sounds of any emergency. An area was provided, which was checked and no one found. No other information available from which to locate the female.

9:34 pm – Drayton Valley – Centre Court – Complainant reported that an intoxicated acquaintance had uttered threats against a friend inside a residence. Members attended, the male who had uttered the alleged threat had left and the recipient of the threat wanted no action, not even wishing to identify himself, though police were aware of his identity.

10:00 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 620/Twp Rd 485 – Complainant reported a single-vehicle rollover. Members attended and found four occupants with only minor injuries, alcohol not a factor though icy roads possibly were. Vehicle was towed and the occupants were transported to a hotel in town.

10:17 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported her adult son was being verbally aggressive. Members attended, the complainant had told son and girlfriend to leave as they weren’t welcome. Son and girlfriend left without incident.

11:52 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Rooming house manager reported a female with a knife, causing a disturbance. Members attended and located and seized a knife, no other involvement required.

April 2

5:46 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant reported what sounded like a verbal domestic dispute in an alley, with a male and female screaming. Members attended the area but the suspects were gone.

8:36 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Report of a 3-year-old out by himself. Police attended, mother was located and CFS was advised.

1:46 pm – Drayton Valley – Complaint of a male offering a female financial compensation for marriage in order to gain citizenship. Complainant reporting for information purposes only and not willing to provide further information.

4:18 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Report of a vehicle driving recklessly, speeding. Patrols made, unable to locate. Company owner of truck spoken to and warned.

4:50 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Possible intoxicated driver. Attempts to locate vehicle unsuccessful.

10:23 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Welfare check request on children. Police spoke with involved parties. Dispute over rules in a different residence, children were upset and told parents. Nothing criminal.

April 3

10:35 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Trespasser on property, may have caused damage to a bathroom. Police attended, unknown how entry was gained, no damage caused.

2:21 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Report of shoplifting from Walmart.

3:03 pm – Brazeau County – Twp 504 – Recovered stolen vehicle. Vehicle was burnt out on a lease site. Vehicle identified as having been stolen from Beaumont in January.

3:35 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Report the same male trespasser as earlier in the morning returned. Police attended, the male had collected his belongings he left behind and had left prior to police arriving.

4:01 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Report a vehicle passed on a solid line and clipped the mirror of the other vehicle. Breton RCMP requested to attempt to locate the vehicle.

5:46 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Possible attempted B&E that took place April 2. Possible suspect identified through video surveillance. No entry was gained.

9:11 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Landlord reported his tenants called regarding a homeless male in the vestibule, likely trying to keep warm. Police attended, but the male had already left.

April 4

5:11 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Police received a wellbeing check at a residence. Police attended, there had been some disagreements the previous, and when the caller did not hear from one of the occupants got concerned. No issues, verbal argument between other tenants of the residence.

8:33 am – Yellowhead County – Whitecap Road – Wellbeing check. Truck was left parked since at least yesterday, skidoo tracks going into the bush, truck is now snow-covered, concerned someone may be lost. Police attended and were able to locate the owner of the truck who was bush camping.

9:59 am – Brazeau County – RR 83 – Police and Drayton Valley Fire attended a structure fire in an attached garage of a residence.

10:35 am – Brazeau County – RR 92 – Disconnected 911 call from a business. Multiple calls received at this location over the last couple weeks. No issues identified.

5:27 pm – Brazeau County – Country Style Trailer Park – Report of a disturbance at a residence, police attended and no offence took place.

6:41 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Report of a possible breach of conditions. Members attended and mediated situation between involved parties.

April 5

7:11 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Unwanted person, likely homeless, sleeping in the laundry room of the apartment building. Police attended and located the male inside. The male left without issue, the complainant did not want further action taken.

7:54 am – Drayton Valley – 58 Avenue – Mischief to a business overnight. Front window broken, believe to likely be a disgruntled employee who was recently terminated. Matter under investigation.

4:32 pm – Drayton Valley – Centre Court Trailer Court – Complainant calling to report they were called to pick up a dog and upon arrival, there were a few people yelling and swearing at each other. Member attended, dog apprehended without further incident.

April 6

2:35 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop which resulted in charges against driver for no drivers licence.

5:59 am – Brazeau County – 911 hangup, an ongoing issue with phone line.

10:43 am – Drayton Valley – 55 Street – Complainant reporting the gate lock to their compound had been broken. Some service rigs also were damaged and some tools stolen.

10:45 am – Drayton Valley – 54 Street – Complainant reporting a break and enter to sea can. Member attended, forced entry observed. Air Compressor stolen.

11:40 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – Complainant reporting tracks in the snow near their window of the garage. Tracks were followed. Increased patrols to be made in area.

11:47 am – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a dangerous driver in an older grey SUV. Driver was swerving between lanes and slamming their brakes in front of large trucks. Member located vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Warning provided about manner of driving.

12:41 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting a suspended driver. Members checked and driver has a valid licence.

12:46 pm – Drayton Valley – Econorest – Complainant reporting unwanted persons squatting in the shed. Refusing to leave. Members attended and located individuals who advised they were given permission to be there last week due to the cold weather. Advised complainant they need to go through proper channels.

1:39 pm – Brazeau County – 911 hangup, ongoing issue with phone line.

2:55 pm – Drayton Valley – Country Style Trailer court – Dispute being reported, person is not being allowed to leave. Members attended, false third party complaint. All is fine within the residence.

3:31 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – 911 open line with disturbance in the background. Member attended area and spoke with several persons in area, no one recalled a disturbance. Member located residence, male arrested for outstanding warrant.

7:28 pm – Drayton Valley – Petro Canada – Request to assist fire with a vehicle smoking near the gas pumps. Fire was out upon arrival.

10:58 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Street – Complainant reporting theft of credit card from stolen vehicle. Matter is still under investigation.

11:39 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reporting erratic driving. Members patrolled area, vehicle not located.

April 7

8:15 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting the mailboxes in the back alley have been broken into. Packages are on the ground. Member attended, photos taken and collected any items believed to be from the mailbox.

8:32 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting entry to two lease sites over the past two weeks. Copper wire stolen.

9:05 am – Drayton Valley – 63 Street – Complainant reporting they thought they saw their stolen vehicle parked at one of the hotels. Vehicle then took off. Member spoke with an employee who advised that the driver of the vehicle is working in the area and has been parked there for several days. Not the same vehicle.

10:46 am – Drayton Valley Hospital – Complainant reporting a male is at the front entrance and is being verbally aggressive and refusing to leave. Members attended and located male who stated they had simply wanted to use the phone to call a cab. Male was outside on the bench upon arrival, cab showed up shortly after.

11:21 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Complainant reporting suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. Vehicle is a black dually truck with a tidy tank and toolbox in the back of the truck. Vehicle has been observed driving over the curb, then did some donuts and exited. Members were advised that this incident occurred on April 4th.

3:04 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting they parked their vehicle in front of IGA and when they returned there was damage to the vehicle.

3:24 pm – Drayton Valley – Joshua Blvd – Complainant calling to report the mailboxes had been broken into. Post office advised.

7:56 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Complainant reporting a Blue Chevrolet S-10 is stunting. While stopped at a red light, driver revved engine and spun tires spraying rocks on complainant’s vehicle. Member contacted driver of vehicle and was warned about their behaviour.

10:01 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting an erratic driver in a tanker truck. Driver of truck had almost run them off the road by the bridge.

11:06 pm – Brazeau County – Members requested to conduct a wellbeing check on female. Members attended, female had unplugged phone as they did not wish to talk with caller.

April 8

5:54 am – Drayton Valley – 57 Avenue – Complainant reporting their yard was broken into again and gained access to sea can.

9:11 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle in their driveway. Male is sitting in the vehicle. Licence plate obtained, member called registered owner of vehicle who advised they were there to pick up a dolly from complainant’s husband.

12:24 PM – Drayton Valley – 44 Avenue – Members called to a report of an assault. Members attended, male had attacked persons who he was living with who were moving out. No injuries. Male arrested.

1:14 pm – Violet Grove – Complainant reporting dangerous driving over the past two weeks. Vehicle is a Black GMC Sierra. There are no sidewalks and children are playing outside. Driver of vehicle drives by and ensures they hit all the puddles spraying people. Driver contacted and warned about their manner of driving.

1:46 pm – Drayton Valley – Centre Court Trailer Court – Complainant reporting a dog fight that occurred at the trailer park approximately 2 hours prior. One male got bit by an elderly dog.

2:18 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Complainant reporting a female has been screaming at kids in the alleyway for the past hour. Member attended and located female and children, nothing heard upon arrival.

8:09 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant requesting assistance with an elderly woman who is refusing to leave. Complainant advised that the female had taken a cab to the old hotel and is now sitting outside in a walker, not dressed properly and will not return to seniors residence as she had an argument with the building manager. Member attended and convinced her to return to the residence. Courtesy ride provided.

8:15 pm – Drayton Valley – Dollarama – Complainant reporting a suspicious male is hanging around outside the store. Male is approximately 5’9” with a red coat and a bandanna. Was in store and is now outside. Members attended, male had left. Patrols around area were negative.

10:23 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Member on patrol attempted a traffic stop with a stolen vehicle. Vehicle fled and got stuck, however, the driver was arrested nearby with assistance of police dog services. 24-year-old known male arrested and charged with flight from police, possession of property over $5000, possession of break-in instruments, Fail to comply with condition order x2, driving while unauthorized and driving an uninsured vehicle. Held for a Bail Hearing.

11:04 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Complainant reporting a possible break and enter to residence. Multiple males observed running from residence. Member attended, residence was secure, the homeowner was in the garage and denied having anyone over. Males observed heading towards skate park. Member patrolled area with negative results.

April 9

12:07 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Complainant reporting a suspicious male. Male had knocked on the door and asked if they could work on the house at midnight. Male had been at residence previously and they had paid him to shovel some snow. Member recognized description of known male. Patrols in area were negative. Member will speak with male when they locate him.

1:41 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Member on patrol located a stolen white Chevrolet Silverado near the Woodhaven parking lot. Vehicle had been reported stolen from Rimbey on April 8.

2:28 am – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Complainant reporting a Black GMC Sierra had left the 7-11 at an unreasonably high rate of speed. Traffic stop conducted. Fail reading received on alcohol screening device. Vehicle towed, 3-day driving suspension given along with 3 additional motor vehicle-related charges.

2:50 am – Drayton Valley – Pleasant View Trailer court – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle parked in front of their residence with 3 occupants. Suspects were looking into the vehicle next to them but got back in their vehicle. Member attended, vehicle had left prior to their arrival.

4:17 am – Drayton Valley – 58 Avenue – Member called to a commercial alarm for a possible break and enter in progress. Member attended and located known male nearby who was arrested. Nothing stolen.
