A man taken down by patrons while trying to rob the Blackfalds Motor Inn at gunpoint on Halloween night has been sentenced to more than four years behind bars.

It was at 12:42 a.m. on Nov. 1, 2019 when RCMP responded to a 911 call that a man was being held by patrons at the bar after he fired a shot during a robbery attempt. Responding officers then took the man into custody.

Mounties said that a single gunshot had been fired during the robbery attempt, but not at a person, while another shot was discharged during an ensuing struggle for the gun.

No one in the bar was injured from either of the gunshots, according to RCMP.
