50 additional COVID-19 cases in Alberta

The number of COVID-19 cases in Alberta has risen by 50, according to Wednesday’s report from the province, bringing the total to 1,423.

That total includes 1,005 cases that are laboratory confirmed and 418 probable cases.

The province says 865 cases are considered to be active, which is down from 900 on Tuesday.

The number of fatalities from the virus has increased by three to 29. All three of the latest deaths are in the Calgary zone.

Another 72 people in Alberta have now recovered from COVID-19, bringing that total to 519.

Forty-four people have been hospitalized, with 16 in ICU.

Alberta has now completed a total of 68,762 for the virus.

The number of COVID-19 cases in the Central zone has risen by six and now sits at 72. There remains only one virus-related fatality in the zone to date.

In Red Deer, the number of cases has risen to 32, which includes 16 active cases and 16 recovered.

Lacombe County: 4 cases (3 active, 1 recovered)
Lacombe: 2 cases (both recovered)
Ponoka County: 1 case (recovered)
County of Stettler: 1 case (active)
