The Rocky Mountain House RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) made arrests on April 1, and seized three loaded firearms from within a vehicle.

One of these firearms, police say, was a sawed-off shotgun.

At 11:34 p.m., members of the CRU were conducting proactive patrols in Caroline as a part of their crime reduction mandate. The officers spotted a vehicle being operated in a suspicious manner and conducted a traffic stop.

Police say in a release that the passenger in the vehicle immediately fled from the vehicle, but was apprehended shortly and found to have an outstanding arrest warrant. The driver was also arrested on scene.

CRU members seized the firearms, ammunition, as well as what is believed to be methamphetamine, following a search of the vehicle.

Jason Glenn, 37, and Dustin Black, 27, were both remanded into custody on a multitude of firearms offences. Both were scheduled to appear in court on April 6.

“Our communities can continue to count on us during this public health emergency” says Staff Sergeant Carl Dinsdale, Detachment Commander, Rocky Mountain House. “The CRU remains committed to stopping criminal behaviour and keeping citizens safe. Nothing good ever comes from the combination of the items seized in this vehicle stop.”
