Drayton Valley RCMP report: March 26 – April 1

March 26

8:23 am – Brazeau County – Gas plant broken into overnight. Padlock on gate was cut and a calf sled was stolen.

9:09 am – Brazeau County – Rocky Rapids – Mailboxes broken into overnight. Unknown what, if anything, was taken at this time. Canada Post was advised.

9:22 am – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Open line 911 call from a lease site. Issues caused by phone line. Members are working with the company involved and Telus to have the matter resolved, as throughout the span of this report 15 more such files were generated.

9:35 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Report of a hit and run that occurred March 23, unknown suspect vehicle.

2:07 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Attempted theft of a vehicle overnight. Ignition damaged but it appears they were unable to get the vehicle started.

4:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Suspicious female in the area, police attended and spoke with the female and asked to stay away from the business. No offence.

7:17 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Unwanted female on the premises. Police attended and gave the female a courtesy ride near the MAT program so she could go there when it opened.

7:46 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Report of shoplifting from a liquor store. Suspect vehicle details provided.

7:56 pm – Drayton Valley – 43 Street – Report of a female talking to a fence. Police patrolled the area, nobody was located.

8:47 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Possible B&E in progress to a vacant residence. Police attended, residence was secure, no signs of damage or attempts at entry. Patrols made, no suspects located.

9:02 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Unwanted person in the entryway to keep warm. Police attended and provided a ride to the MAT program.

10:50 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complaint from the MAT program of a person high on drugs upsetting the other residents. Police attended and arrested the female. She was transported and lodged in cells and held until sober. No charges.

March 27

4:54 am – Drayton Valley – 43 Avenue – B&E and theft of truck overnight. Unknown suspects entered the garage and stole a 2009 black Chevrolet Silverado, Alberta license plate RYM-123, and drove it through the garage door.

10:10 am – Brazeau County – Report of a theft from a lease site that occurred February 29.

10:37 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Report that a dog had gotten loose from a residence and had been struck by a vehicle.

10:45 am – Drayton Valley – Information received that a truck stolen from the Breton area was in Tim Horton’s drive-thru. Members located the truck at the Coach Motel, 3 persons detained. One male admitted to “borrowing” the truck. The owner advised he didn’t want charges but was happy to get the truck back.

12:19 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Report of 2 homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk. Members attended, they were out of the way and not disturbing any businesses.

12:53 pm – Drayton Valley – Coach Motel – Possible B&E into one of the rooms. A tenant from a different room entered a room while the usual occupant wasn’t home. Attempts to reach the occupant unsuccessful, unknown at this time if permission was given or not.

2:51 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – White 2010 Ford Edge, Alberta license plate WES-323, stolen from outside Mixers Liquor. Vehicle was left running while the driver went inside.

3:06 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Dangerous driver, tailgating and cutting people off in an intersection. Police made patrols but were unable to locate the vehicle.

4:48 pm – Drayton Valley – 46 Avenue – Report of a possible theft in progress. Police attended, a male was moving stuff into a garage, no signs of stolen property or indication anything was being stolen.

March 28

10:41 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Road rage. Police mediated warning between both parties.

12:47 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Homeless people in the ATM area of a bank. Police attended, but the homeless people had already moved on.

2:51 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant reported persons inside an empty apartment. Member attended, still under investigation.

3:52 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reported his 2015 Polaris Scrambler ATV stolen, under investigation.

4:07 pm – Parkland County – Twp Rd 514A – Panic alarm from a key fob at a residence. Members spoke to residents and determined it was an accidental button push. No attendance made.

6:58 pm – Drayton Valley – Walmart – Complainant reported a truck at the location that was possibly stolen. Member investigated and determined the truck wasn’t stolen.

March 29

12:04 am – Brazeau County – Rocky Rapids – Members responded to a possible break and enter attempt, suspects had left. Description of vehicle provided, suspects had entered a donation bin. Under investigation.

2:59 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant reported a male/female arguing who left in a white pickup truck. Members located the pair, determined the female was breaching no-contact conditions. Parties were separated by police, under investigation.

4:25 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Hwy 621 – Complainant reported a male wearing dark clothes walking on the highway. Member attended and eventually located the male who was walking to town. Advice given on how to stay safe.

8:01 am – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 72 – Complainant reported a male parked roadside, slumped over the wheel. Members attended and investigation lead to the 37-year-old male being arrested for Possession of Stolen Property (license plate). Multiple weapons were found in the vehicle along with a small quantity of meth. The male was released on conditions to attend court at a later date on multiple charges.

11:09 am – Brazeau County – Members attended a residence to keep the peace while a female retrieved belongings due to a break-up of relationship. Nothing criminal occurred.

1:30 pm – Drayton Valley – Post Office – Complainant reported 2-3 males in the lobby, possibly breaking into mailboxes. Member attended, suspects had left, no damage observed.

6:05 pm –Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported two possibly homeless males trying to get into a large dumpster, concerned for their safety as it might be a compacter. Member attended location but the males were gone.

8:02 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her ex was an hour late with the exchange of their child. Member spoke to both parties and facilitated the child being taken to mom as the custody order dictated.

March 30

2:08 am – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported two suspicious persons with bicycles, circling an area and acting suspiciously, though not observed doing anything criminal. Member located two persons matching the description nearby. The two were identified and did not appear to have any stolen property.

6:37 am – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Complainant reported a business window broken, bicycle tracks leaving the location, possibly from suspects. Under investigation.

7:12 am – Drayton Valley – 7/11 – Complainant reported a male and female in the store being rude and disrespectful. Suspects had left on foot. Member attended the area but the suspects weren’t located.

8:04 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant reported apartment building broken into, and 3 unoccupied suites appear to have been entered. Members attended, one suite appeared to have been entered and possibly used by squatters. Under investigation.

8:28 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Parking lot collision reported.

9:50 am – Drayton Valley – 7/11 – Complainant reported a female outside shivering and crying, stating she had been kicked out of her house. Member attended and found an alternate location for her to go.

10:31 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Complainant reported his 2016 Canam Outlander stolen sometime over the past couple of days.

11:00 am – Brazeau County – RR83 – Landlord-tenant dispute over retrieving remaining property. Both parties spoken to, situation mediated.

11:19 am – Drayton Valley – 55 Avenue – Complainant requested police assistance in retrieving belongings due to relationship breakup and safety concerns. Members attended as requested and kept the peace. No issues beyond the ex-boyfriend referring to officers as “dirty pigs” and other comments not fit for print. The male then started crying and left in his vehicle.

11:55 am – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Complainant requested a wellbeing check on a female seen walking down the street crying. Member attended, female was distancing herself due to her son’s angry outbursts. Not criminal.

12:00 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reported the theft of fuel and some tools from equipment.

2:02 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 491 – Complainant reported receiving multiple calls over the past week or so from random 1-800 numbers requesting money, gift cards etc. Member attended as complainant had provided his legal land address to suspect who said they were coming. While member was on scene complainant received another call. Suspect hung up once he realized it was the police. Advice given to the complainant, phone numbers untraceable and likely from out of country.

4:54 pm – Brazeau County – RR75 – Complainant contacted police as his ex was apparently coming from BC to pick up their kids, and he was concerned about COVID-19 issues and transmission. Advice was given to speak to his ex and perhaps consult a lawyer. No custody order in place.

6:20 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant called 911 to report an argument with boyfriend. Members located the couple who had gone for a drive to cool off. Nothing criminal occurred, though matter still under investigation due to a possible breach charge.

8:12 pm – Brazeau County – Violet Grove area – Complainant reported a dispute with her landlord who was trying to force her to leave. Member attended, mediated the situation which related to a verbal agreement over the payment of rent. Tenant had just moved in.

8:21 pm – Brazeau County – Violet Grove area – Complaint related to above incident received from the landlord stating the tenants weren’t supposed to move in yet, and were no longer welcome due to information they had since obtained. Member attended, complainant agreed to let tenant stay for a couple days.

March 31

3:58 am – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd – Complaint received from security company of a male walking around a business yard. Suspect had left after being spoken to by complainant.

9:02 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reported several suspects stealing gas from a car. Member attended and determined the suspects knew the owner of the car and had permission to borrow fuel. All parties known to police.

12:01 pm – Yellowhead County – West of Cynthia – Complainant reported grounding cable stolen from a remote lease site approximately one week ago.

12:49 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Members responded to a domestic dispute. No charges laid, parties separated, arguing only.

1:41 pm – Yellowhead County – West of Cynthia – Complainant reported grounding cable stolen from a remote pipeline site.

5:21 pm – Drayton Valley – 55 Avenue – Complainant reported someone riding a snowmobile on the street excessively fast and without a helmet. Member attended but the snowmobile and safety-conscious rider were gone.

5:24 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Complainant looking for assistance in removing a vehicle from private property. Tow truck had come but female associated with the truck causing an issue. Member attended and explained to her that complainant had right to tow the truck. Truck towed.

11:02 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant reported lots of people in apartment building being noisy in the halls. Member attended and found some people moving furniture. They agreed to keep the noise down.

April 1

1:57 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reported a male sleeping in a bank lobby. Member attended, male left when asked to. Male was offered a ride to the MAT program shelter but declined.

6:07 am – Drayton Valley – 56 Avenue – Multiple alarm hits at a business. Member attended, alarm was false, caused by staff.

9:35 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St South/Hwy 22 – Complainant reported losing control and ending up in the ditch. Members attended, no injuries or apparent damage. Vehicle dealt with by towing company.

12:13 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported minor two-vehicle collision in a parking lot.

12:46 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant called police for advice on a custody matter. Advice given.

2:28 pm – Rocky Rapids – Panic alarm from a residence. Members attended, alarm caused by a youth cleaning while mom was working.

2:43 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Drayton Valley members arrested a male after a short investigation into drug trafficking. Charges are pending against a 31-year-old Drayton Valley male and 28 grams of crystal meth were seized with an estimated street value of $2800.

3:45 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a female who had been fostering animals was now refusing to return them. Under investigation.
