Red Deer Mounties investigating drug-related, targeted shooting

Red Deer RCMP are investigating what they believe to be a drug-related, targeted shooting in Riverside Meadows Sunday night.

It happened around 5:00 p.m. on Mar.29, when police responded to a 9-1-1 call of a gun shot in the area of 54 Avenue and 59 Street.

Mounties say a 47-year-old man from Red Deer was the victim of the targeted shooting and was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect and victim are believed to know each other and say both are involved in the drug trade.

RCMP continue to investigate and anticipate more details to be shared in the coming days.
