Bringing light to a time of darkness

Red Deerians encouraged to shine a light in support of frontline workers

Mar 31, 2020 | 1:10 PM

The lights on City Hall are shining blue and green to honour healthcare and other essential workers everywhere who are the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We lit up City Hall to show our recognition and support of our friends and colleagues in health and other essential services who are doing everything they can to respond to this health crisis,” said Mayor Tara Veer. “The lights are a symbol of solidarity to health care professionals and front-line responders, and I invite all Red Deerians to join us in this gesture.”

Red Deerians are encouraged to show support by shining blue and green lights on the outside of their homes, whether it be Christmas lights, ribbons, or coloured hearts in your windows.

Residents can also show support by drawing pictures or messages of support on sidewalks or driveways in chalk, while also enjoying some fresh air.
