Drayton Valley RCMP report: March 19 – March 26

March 19

10:23 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Ave – Complainant reported her ex had changed the locks on their home. Member attended and provided direction to both parties on how to proceed with the devolution of property. No offence.

10:45 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Dispute between sisters. Member attended in order to speak to both sisters, determined one was visiting from out of province and there were concerns over exposure to COVID-19. A resolution was reached suitable to both sisters.

10:57 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complaint of a truck abandoned on a lease site, two males in a second vehicle seen leaving the area. Member attended, truck not stolen. Owner contacted later, advised he had parked there and was working in the area.

2:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 St – Complainant reported her truck was backed into while she visited her sister. Under investigation, awaiting report from driver of second vehicle.

2:42 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Complainant reported a suspicious male had gone through neighbour’s garbage bin. Member located the male nearby who had been scavenging for bottles.

3:04 p.m. – Parkland County – Twp Rd 514 – Member responded to a call from a 10-year-old child who was home alone and scared because the power was out. Member was unable to reach either parent and eventually brought the child to a family friend in town. Members dealt with two related files later (6:11 pm and 8:27 pm).

4:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported seeing a known female steal a bicycle and then ditch it in a different nearby location. Members were unable to attend at the time, under investigation.

6:11 p.m. – Parkland County – Twp Rd 514 – Complainant reported her 10-year-old child missing from their residence. Members were aware of the earlier incident and that the child wasn’t missing. Members tried to contact the complainant who didn’t answer her phone.

7:09 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Ave – Complainant reported her adult daughter at her residence and had been using meth. Complainant didn’t want her at the home. Member attended and located the daughter outside. As per the complainant’s request, the daughter was sent on her way and told not to return.

7:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Ave – Call received from daughter involved in previous incident advising her mother was not allowing her to come home. Dealt with as above, daughter was not a resident of the house.

7:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported coming back to his building and finding the landlord with the door open venting a very obnoxious odour. Complainant believes it may be associated to drug use by tenants on 3rd floor. When member contacted the complainant he advised the smell had dissipated. Landlord aware.

8:27 p.m. – Brazeau County – Birchwood – Members responded to a complaint from a male who received a call from a female neighbour of his ex advising his ex was “going crazy” and that he needed to pickup his children. Members attended and determined the neighbour had been arguing with complainant’s ex after she asked for help watching her children as she was going to pickup a friend’s child from a residence nearby. No offence occurred and the 10-year-old reported missing earlier was picked up by his parents while members were present.

9:06 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Area of – Complainant reported receiving a threatening call from his brother-in-law. Members determined the nature of the comments were not threatening though definitely rude and not in the spirit of family.

March 20

8:01 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 759/Twp Rd 493 – Complainant reported a tractor-trailer unit in the ditch, driven into trees. Members attended and found a male driver in the truck, uninjured. The 53-year-old driver from BC was issued a 24-hour suspension and the truck was towed.

9:37 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Members responded to a possible domestic in progress after complainant reported hearing a disturbance in a neighbouring suite. Investigation lead to a 28-year-old males arrest for assaulting his girlfriend. The male was removed from the location and released to appear in court at a later date.

2:04 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a red car parked beside a bank for the second time this date. Male occupant still in the car. Member responded and determined the male wasn’t a threat and was using the banks wi-fi. The driver was directed to park in an actual parking spot.

4:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 7/11 – Complainant reported two males were in the store making a mess, one threw his Slurpee on the floor. The suspects had left prior to police arriving. One of the suspects was kind enough to leave his ID behind which is now waiting at the RCMP detachment for him.

9:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Hotel employee reported a suspicious light coloured vehicle lurking around the parking lot. Member attended but the car had left.

March 21

1:50 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Member conducted a curfew check on a prolific offender. The male wasn’t home as required by his conditions of release. Charges are pending.

5:19 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 45 St – Complainant reported his 1996 Dodge 2500 pickup stolen sometime overnight. Truck is red and had Alberta plate CFF0429 attached.

9:12 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported a male sleeping in ATM area of bank. Members attended but the male was gone. Members located two males nearby who admitted to sleeping at the location. The males were warned and advised to sleep elsewhere, such as at the “MAT” program.

6:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Report of a person laying on the road near Sekura Auctions. Person appeared uninjured but had a bunch of personal property around them and thumb out. Member located the female walking on the sidewalk. Female stated she was fine, just tired. Female is known to police.

March 22

1:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 St – Complainant reported a male walking in the alley with a flashlight, appeared to be looking at someone’s snowmobile. Member patrolled the area but the suspect wasn’t located.

4:21 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 56A St – Member on patrol was flagged down by member of the Fire Department who requested assistance; a C02 alarm had gone off in a residence and the occupant refused to let firefighters or gas company employee inside. Member spoke to the occupant and advised police had powers to enter to ensure the wellbeing of persons inside. Occupant allowed entry and admitted to using a propane fired heater indoors.

5:11 p.m. – Poplar Ridge area – Member returned a phone call to a complainant who advised his business yard had been entered the previous night. Complainant requested patrols of the area.

6:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported her ex was breaching a no-contact order with their child. Members investigated and determined the suspect had a valid consent letter allowing contact with the child.

6:32 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd – Complainant reported a female ran out the back door of a store with merchandise. Still under investigation.

7:22 p.m – Drayton Valley – Aspen Waste – Complainant reported the gate damaged at the dump. Members attended, buildings secured, property representative advised.

9:09 p.m – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a toddler out on the e site. Member spoke to company representative who advised they are trying to get the issue fixed. Problem with phone line.

9:09 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a toddler out on the neighbour’s deck crying and without proper clothing for about ten minutes. Member attended, the child’s mother had been showering when daughter locked herself outside. Child uninjured, referral made to CFS.

10:36 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported a suspicious white car had stopped in front of her residence 3-4 times, keeps circling and then stopping again. Member patrolled the area but no such vehicle was located.

March 23

2:00 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Aspen Waste – Member on patrol observed a male exiting the dump. Investigation was unable to confirm if the male was related to the earlier damaged gate, but he was issued a Trespass ticket.

9:21 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Another open line 911 call received from a lease site. Members spoke to property representative who confirmed ongoing issues with a phone line.

10:54 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR85 – Complainant reported longhorn cattle loose. Member attended and confirmed ownership of the cattle which were back in their pasture already.

12:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant requested police attend a local hotel to retrieve items left in a room by suspects who had been evicted due to payment by stolen credit card. Under investigation on the original file.

1:13 p.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – third open line 911 from lease site. No action taken due to ongoing files caused by phone line issues.

1:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported the license plate stolen off of her vehicle.

2:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a parking lot collision that occurred on March 21.

2:50 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR91 – Abandoned 911 call from oil company field office. Member attended, property secure with no signs of any emergency. Suspected phone issue.

8:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male and female broke into and stayed overnight in a hotel. Suspects left with several towels. Under investigation, surveillance video on site.

10:34 p.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Members attended to a report of a possible domestic. Members determined there had been an argument, but nothing criminal occurred.

11:17 p.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – yet another open line 911 call from a lease site. Property representative aware, company working on fixing the issue.

March 24

2:37 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Members attended a domestic situation. Determined the two had argued over alleged infidelity and some items had been thrown, but no criminal offence occurred. The female left for the night.

4:28 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Ring Road – Members responded to a residence 3 separate times for reports of an unknown man in a residence and a vehicle in the yard. Due to fresh snow, members were able to determine no one had entered the property and the residence was cleared and no one else found inside. Member suspected the cause was a mix of alcohol and prescription medications. Complainants friend was asked to keep an eye on her.

8:23 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Complainant reported a window smashed on her vehicle and a CD player stolen.

10:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Members attended a residence to assist with a custody dispute. Family member had interim custody, which was to expire but was extended due to COVID-19/court issues, and biological parent attended wanting to take the child. Members mediated the situation, child remained at the location, CFS referral made.

11:43 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported his vehicle damaged when a garage door was closed inadvertently by car wash staff. File number and damage sticker issued to assist with insurance.

2:11 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported a large two-toned brown dog kennel stolen from her carport, believes it occurred between 6 and 7 am.

3:36 p.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Third-party complaint received of threats to damage a neighbours’ residence. Member investigated, threat had been a Facebook post which had subsequently removed. Suspect spoken to and warned, stated he had just been angry and wouldn’t have done anything.

5:29 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave/49 St – Abandoned 911 call from 911 prefix, radius of about 200 meters from location. Member attended and conducted patrols and local enquiries but was unable to locate the caller or any emergency.

5:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported locating a possibly stolen vehicle. Member was able to determine the vehicle wasn’t stolen.

5:47 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 South of Lodgepole – Member responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch. Vehicle located, two occupants uninjured and vehicle appeared undamaged. Driver had moved over for an approaching large truck and caught road edge. Road and weather conditions were very poor at the time. Member remained until family members picked up the two, vehicle to be towed later.

7:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Econorest – Complainant reported two homeless males in a room at the location, who were not supposed to be there. Members attended and determined that the two males were guests of the renter of the room.

7:40 p.m. – Parkland County – RR 53 – 911, unknown situation. Police attended and found nothing amiss. The owner of the phone apologized for the misdial.

8:48 p.m. – Brazeau County – Cynthia – Report of skidoos driving down the main roads in town.

9:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Stunting vehicles pulling a toboggan behind them. Police attended, no vehicles were present.

9:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Econorest – Another complaint regarding the same two males reported earlier. Police informed the caller that they had been invited in and would need to speak with the property manager.

10:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Aurora – Report of a suspicious person near the school with a flashlight, looked like he was trying to hide. Police attended, checked the area, the school was secure and nobody was found.

March 25

7:15 a.m. – Brazeau County – Twp 502 – Cable cut alarm. Police attended with a representative from the company, no cut cables or fresh tracks could be found.

7:52 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 92 – Multiple 911 open-lines received from a business throughout the day, no problems on-site, must be issues with the phone lines.

8:14 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Attempted theft from a business yard, surveillance showed an unknown person climbing over the yard fence. When the perimeter alarm went off, the person fled. Nothing was taken.

9:47 a.m. – Brazeau County – Report of copper wire stolen from a lease site sometime in the past couple days.

9:50 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Stolen vehicle recovered by Community Peace Officer. Police were made aware after the vehicle had already been removed. The vehicle was originally stolen out of Rocky Mountain House.

10:51 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Plate stolen from a vehicle, unknown when it occurred.

11:31 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 Street – Collision between grader and parked vehicle. No injuries.

12:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – Complaint of wide-loads not replacing signage when moved to allow them through. Members patrolled the highway through town, all signage appeared to be in place and functioning properly.

1:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – 911 hang-up from a business. They were doing maintenance on the phone line.

1:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Disturbance while roommate was moving out, police attended, no violence, police remained on scene as short time to insure matters did not escalate.

8:44 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 7-11 – Unwanted person refusing to leave. Police attended, female was leaving as police arrived.

March 26

8:01 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Street – License plate and spare key stolen from a vehicle overnight.
