Premier, health officials provide update on COVID-19

Premier Jason Kenney, Chief Medical Officer of Health Deena Hinshaw and officials will provide an update on COVID-19 and the ongoing work to protect public health.

Kenney announced that there are 61 new cases of COVID-19 in Alberta since Tuesday, bringing the province’s overall total to 419.

Kenney also announced that police in Alberta are being given authority to issue tickets to enforce public health measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Community peace officers and police can now issue fines of up to $1000 per violation.

Courts also now have increased powers and can issue fines of up to $100k for a first offence and $500k for subsequent offences.
