City Manager encourages Red Deerians to take care of themselves and fellow citizens

Mar 21, 2020 | 7:11 PM

In lieu of a Facebook Live press conference Saturday evening, the City of Red Deer released a video message from City Manager Allan Seabrooke.

In the video, Seabrooke says there isn’t a lot of new information to share, but that the City wants residents to know it continues to work on their behalf each day.

“We know this is hard for Red Deerians. We understand that many of you, because of the isolation, are experiencing feelings of loneliness and helplessness during this crisis, while others are overwhelmed and sometimes even scared,” he says.

“We want to remind you that the health and safety of Red Deerians is the top priority for us and all of our staff as we continue to work as quickly as possible to respond to the issues and questions as best we can.”

Seabrooke goes on to commend local businesses and agencies who have gone above and beyond to help the Red Deer’s most vulnerable.

“We’ve heard stories about businesses that are stepping up to deliver groceries and provide hand sanitizers, along with a number of other positive initiatives to help those in the community,” he says. “We’ve also heard some great stories of many of our great residents calling our not-for-profit groups to offer volunteer assistance. We’re thankful for the goodwill of everyone here in Red Deer.”

To learn more, he adds, visit RedDeer.ca and WeAreRedDeer.ca, and as always, the City’s centre is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily for anyone with COVID-19-related questions or concerns.
