Mar 18, 2020 | 4:22 PM

The Red Deer Food Bank has shared an update on how it is working to ensure everyone’s safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In this time of uncertainty, the safety and well-being of our clients, supporters, volunteers and staff is our top priority. We’re reaching out to let you know that we are here to help,” the food said on its Facebook page.

The Red Deer Food Bank says it is taking the following measures:

• Stepping up sanitizing routines

• Encouraging Social Distancing by allowing FOUR people at a time in their Client Service Area. People will be asked to wait in their vehicles or outside should they be on foot.

• Hamper request procedure is the same with people asked to call ahead (403-346-1505) although, clients will be asked to adhere to their appointed pick up time

• The food bank will be closing at 4 p.m. each day (one hour early) in order to enhance sanitizing efforts.

“We thank everyone for their patience during this difficult time. We know the Coronavirus Pandemic is very disruptive for all of us,” the food bank says.

For those wishing to donate food, it can be dropped off in the donation bins at various grocery stores around the city. Monetary donations can be made online at www.canadahelps.org.
