City of Lacombe activates Emergency Coordination Centre in response to COVID-19 pandemic
The City of Lacombe officially activated its Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC) Tuesday morning in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“This activation allows us to focus resources and a dedicated task team to prepare and respond to this issue, and is not meant as a declaration of emergency,” says Chief Administrative Officer/ECC Director Matthew Goudy, in a release. “We will be meeting regularly to implement measures as the situation develops in the province. At this time there are no confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Lacombe and the risk of contracting the virus is low.”
“We are prepared to support Alberta Health Services in its efforts to contain this pandemic, and are monitoring the situation closely in our community,” adds Director of Emergency Management, Eric Graham. “The ECC activation provides us with an organized and focused approach in preparation for future developments in this national crisis.”
“I want all residents to know that the City of Lacombe is well prepared to act as required for the best possible outcomes,” notes Mayor Grant Creasey. “We have plans in place that ensure the ongoing operations of important City services continue in a safe, methodical and timely manner. We will continue to be vigilant in providing services important to your daily life.”
