Woman accused of aiding in fatal Red Deer shooting released on house arrest
A woman accused of driving a stolen getaway vehicle following a fatal shooting at Red Deer’s south Walmart last December, has been released to a sober living facility in Edmonton.
Defense lawyer Andrew Phypers says Crystal Lee Maurice, 30, was released on Mar. 12 and is now under 24-hour house arrest at the long-term facility. Phypers says Maurice will be there for one year.
As part of her release conditions, Maurice is banned from being in the city of Red Deer. Phypers says the only exceptions will be for court appearances or escorted outings for treatment.
Maurice is charged with accessory after murder, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and theft of a motor vehicle in the Dec. 20, 2019 incident that claimed the life of 69-year-old Charles (Jim) Williams of Red Deer.
