Mar 16, 2020 | 9:07 PM

The Village of Delburne declared a state of local emergency at 1900 hrs (7 p.m.), Monday, March 16, 2020, to assist the Province of Alberta’s efforts to contend and respond to the spread of COVID-19.

The state of local emergency gives the Village the ability, under the Municipal Emergency Management Agency Bylaw 1159/2019 Section 8.1 (i), to procure or fix prices of food, clothing, fuel, equipment, medical supplies, or other essential supplies and the use of any property, services, resources or equipment within the Village for the duration of the state of emergency.

The Bylaw also gives the Village the authority to limit mass gatherings and to put into operation safety plans.

“Your safety is our upmost concern,” says Dan Marsellus, Director of Delburne Emergency Management. “We appreciate the assistance and patience you give to us, your neighbours, and your community in this challenging time.”
