Cadet Warrant Officer First Class (WO1) Connor Evans from 24 Red Deer joined cadets from across the country in Valcartier, Quebec as a cadet official for the National Cadet Biathlon Championship from March 3-7.

This year is Evan’s first time working as one of the ammo distributors at the National Championship.

WO1 Evans is in charge of counting and distributing the rounds used by athletes during the championship and ensures that they are safely stored. This is a very important job, they make the range a safer place for the competitors and the coaches.

“It’s an awesome opportunity, I am happy to take part in this national event,” said Evans, one of the more than 50 cadet officials selected to take part at the National Biathlon Championship from across Canada.

The final stage of the Canadian Cadet Organizations Biathlon Championship Series, the National Cadet Biathlon Championship is four intense days of skiing and marksmanship featuring the very best cadet biathletes from each province and territory.

In addition to participating as athletes, cadets have the opportunity to attend as officials and coaches, adding a uniquely cadet experience to the sport that reinforces the importance of youth leading youth.
