Former Deer Park fire hall eyed for commercial use

Mar 2, 2020 | 6:06 PM

The former fire hall in Red Deer’s Deer Park neighbourhood could soon be home to a coffee shop.

Council passed first reading Monday night to allow a number of additional uses for the building at 39 Street and Davison Drive, including offices for an insurance company and a restaurant or boutique.

Sixty-one landowners were notified of the proposal, 11 of whom responded. Ten expressed opposition to the plan while the other was “middle of the road.”

Concerns cited were related to traffic, noise, and a decrease in neighbouring property values.
