7-year-old girl dies in mobile home park fire

Feb 28, 2020 | 10:29 AM

An overnight fire at a mobile home park west of Red Deer has claimed a life.

The fire at Westview Estates, formerly Les’s Trailer Park, near Burnt Lake Trail broke out just after 1 a.m. Friday.

Blackfalds RCMP says three homes were involved in the blaze when Red Deer County Fire Services responded and evacuated neighbouring properties.

Tragically, police say an occupant of one of the homes, believed to be a 7-year-old girl, was located deceased.

Four other people – an adult male, adult female and two male children – were taken to hospital with injuries, including life-threatening injuries.

STARS Air Ambulance confirms they transported a male child patient with burn injuries to the Alberta Children’s hospital in Calgary.

A search of the structures involved in the fire continues. It’s expected that investigators will be at the scene for most of the day.

Crews from Blackfalds and Sylvan Lake assisted Red Deer County firefighters in battling the blaze.
