Blackfalds moving to next phase of rebranding process

Feb 21, 2020 | 9:49 AM

The Town of Blackfalds is moving ahead with the next step of its rebranding process.

Last month, certain members of the public and community groups were invited to participate in an online and in-person survey. Now, the Town’s Brand Development Committee (BDC) says it wants all residents to open their minds and envision what they believe Blackfalds should look like 25-50 years down the road.

A number of public engagement sessions are scheduled to take place, starting at the Red Deer Home Show from March 6-8 where the Town will have a booth and be accepting feedback.

Open houses will also be taking place at After the Grind (4911 Broadway Avenue) from 1-3 p.m. on March 14 and 6:30-8:30 p.m. on March 19.

“I love hearing from the community what Blackfalds means to them,” says BDC chair Heather Buelow. “I absolutely love this community and am so proud to be a part of it as a business owner for the past 17 years and as a resident for the past 15 years.”

Another online survey opens to the entire public from March 2-23.

According to the Town’s summary of its first survey, which received 368 responses, 146 people stated that family comes to mind more than anything else when thinking about Blackfalds. The next three most common words or phrases were young/children, community/close-knit, and growth/expanding.

The top response to the question ‘What is your vision of what you would like Blackfalds to be like in the future?’ was commercial/industrial/business growth.

A high of 102 said they believe the current logo is outdated or old-fashioned, and 99 said it comes off as religious. Just 11 said they like the colours, and 68 said it doesn’t reflect Blackfalds.

A Request for Proposal is anticipated to be issued in April. More information is at Blackfalds.com.
