Two arrested behind the wheels of stolen vehicles early Wednesday

Two people are in police custody after being discovered behind the wheels of two stolen vehicles in Red Deer on Wednesday morning.

Red Deer RCMP say it was about 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 19 when they located the vehicles parked together on a residential street in Highland Green.

A male and female in each vehicle’s driver’s seat were arrested without incident.

Police seized loaded handguns, body armour, weapons, drugs and other stolen property from the vehicles.

Jared Lee Michael Mcleod, 26, faces 33 counts related to firearms and weapons-related offenses, as well as charges under the Body Armour Control Act.

Sarah Dawn Sheptycki, 27, faces eight counts related to firearms possession and stolen property.

Mcleod is scheduled to appear in court on Mar. 4, and Sheptycki has an appearance set for Feb. 21.
