Red Deer utility rates going up March 1

Feb 18, 2020 | 7:57 PM

Red Deerians will see a rate increase on their utilities starting March 1.

The average household will see an increase of approximately $2.60 per month, or about 2.4%, on their utility bill in 2020. Residents will see the rates reflected starting with their April utility bills.

“Utility rates for water and wastewater are comprised of a fixed charge and a variable use charge, which offer residents the ability to control their bills by limiting water use. Waste collection fees are dependent on the type of household and service levels provided,” the city says in a release.

Fees for regional water and wastewater customers and disposal fees at the Waste Management Facility will also change effective March 1.
