Fountain Tire’s 3 Stars of the Red Deer Community

Feb 12, 2020 | 6:54 AM

RED DEER- Three Red Deerians were named stars of the community this week for their above-and-beyond efforts to make our city a better place.

Carl Hogan, Garrett Gouchey and Tristan Johnson were nominated by their peers and selected as winners of the Fountain Tire 3 Stars program, a partnership between Fountain Tire, the Western Hockey League (WHL) and the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), that honours everyday Canadians for their volunteerism, humanitarianism and generosity.

The trio were publicly recognized at last Saturday’s Red Deer Rebels game.

In hockey, star players of each game are awarded for their outstanding performance on the ice. The Fountain Tire 3 Stars program provides an opportunity to similarly acknowledge and celebrate members of the community who make an impact.

Red Deer’s three stars of 2020 are:

Carl Hogan- A recreational therapist with Alberta Health Services’ adult community long-term outreach program who goes above and beyond for his clients and coworkers. Carl is often found supporting clients with tasks such as grocery shopping, filing taxes and moving. He is admired by his coworkers for his easy-going, calm demeanour and vast knowledge, which he happily shares.

Garrett Gouchey- Dedicated husband and father of three young children. Garrett was nominated for always putting others first, even in challenging times. “He is an amazing guy all around and deserves to be a star,” read his nomination.

Tristan Johnson- Schoolteacher and hockey volunteer who works tirelessly to support youth in her community. Tristan acts as hockey team manager, treasurer, fundraising coordinator and any other role that is needed. Her nomination noted “her connection and commitment to her community – and the children in it – is a beautiful thing.”

“Our communities are full of remarkable people who make a meaningful impact every day,” says WHL Commissioner, Ron Robison. “The WHL, alongside our partner Fountain Tire, is proud to bring some of these inspiring stories to light and say thank you for the contributions our fans have made.”
